The group stage has been great so far. Holland to smash everyone to pieces anyone?

Posted

I don't necessarily disagree, but I wouldn't go crowning the Netherlands as the champions yet. I hoped they would come out stronger against Australia, and they didn't. Germany looked very good as well. Brazil has disappointed so far.

The English played terribly this afternoon. At times they looked like a quality team, but then they had stretches where they couldn't make a pass or play to save their lives.

Ya I'm not sure if Netherlands will make it that far but they have looked better than expected. The Dutch are one of the teams I'm rooting for because of a Canadian connection, Jonathan de Guzmán was born and raised in Toronto :D

I think Germany, Italy, Argentina, and Brazil have a really good chance at winning it this year. You can't blame Brazil for their result against Mexico, the score should have been 3-0 for them, Guillermo Ochoa played one of the best games by a keeper in World Cup history.

Check out this cool fan art:

de Guzmán has become a firm fan favourite here in Swansea. I really hope we can keep hold of him. He deserves a place in the Dutch squad even though they have a wealth of choices in midfield.

Ochoa was superb in that game. I can't remember the last time a player with no club played in the world cup.

wow, epic fail USA. you had it...

LOL I jinxed it...but yeah they were sloggin that last minute. Im curious as to why howard didnt reach more. Even if you miss your muscle memory should cause you to reach. Either way they are still very much alive.

At least Bosnia and that traitorous Canadian Asmir Begovic are out. Bails on the country that gave him the opportunity and developed him. I've got no tolerance for that type.

But no red cards.

FIFA is a joke. Video review isn't allowed, challenges aren't allowed, overturning isn't allowed. If he doesn't get suspended for 20 games or more I'd be shocked. NO ONE SHOULD EVER BITE SOMEONE and he didn't even get sent off, he played on as if nothing happened. He's done this twice before...

LMAO O'Hare! This man should be banned for life. Biting someone increases the risk of infection due to the fact that humans have dirty nasty mouths... i belive he was suspended for a total of 17 games for his previous offenses. Thank you LTC. Parker for the zoomed in aftermath and I am also shocked there wasn't even a red card issued.

I agree and in the confusion the bewildered Italian team allowed a goal on a the next set piece that knocked them outta the tournament. Great job at causing mayhem Suarez. He should have been banned from the sport for life after the 2nd incident with the first being a warning. If he was then maybe some other teams like England would also be in the tournament still, he scored the 2 goals that basically knocked them out as well.

lol

It's always the Italians that get abused like this from the opposing team at the World Cup. Materazzi get's headbutted in the chest by Zidane in 2006, and now this.
