Did the mic come with drivers when you bought it? (Ie: Logitech, Turtle Beach) Go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers. Also, some companies like Logitech have software which you can tailor the mic to specific game profiles. One last question, is the Operating System different on the new tower than the old one?

See if you can test input on the dods menu. It doesn't make you push a button. See if that works. If it doesn't, check your recording devices in control panel>sound to see if you have to configure it.

i did try this and nothing happened so i will go check the recording devices, its just odd cause dods let me use my mic until i switched towers

What is the model number or info for the mic in question?

Can provide an answer to this question? This sounds like a driver issue, and I would like to verify you are using the correct driver.

(assuming Windows 7)

How did you verify you had drivers installed? If you did it via device manager, you may not have the most up-to-date driver, and should be checking out the manufacturers website.

If you pull up device manager, verify that there is no heading called "other devices" in the list, and all headings should not have a yellow warning symbol, as these could represent issues with drivers.

only way i really verified it was the fact that when i plugged it in, (its a turtle beach headset, umm actuall plugs not usb ((if that makes sense)) and i could use it no problem then i switched towers and suddenly dods doesnt think i have a button binded to it, when i key talk the icon doesnt show up like the key was activated. i assume this problem is only with dods as when i hop into your vent channel i can hear the mic key noise being made but well noone ever respondes to my inquires even when i was in the old tower lol, also when i try to configure my mic no voice is picked up, im assuming that means the mic plug itself is incorrect and not software but i am not that tech inclined so i could be wrong

Verify that the microphone is plugged in all the way. The plug and the port where it goes are normally both coloured pink.

The information you have provided thus far would lead me to believe it is either the microphone on the headset that is broken, or the 3.5 mm jack on your computer.

To narrow it down, does your computer have another microphone port in it? Often there is one on the front panel, and also one on the back. Plug the microphone into whichever one you haven't been using to this point, then try to configure it as stated earlier (via the control panel). If that does not work, I would suggest looking into replacing the microphone/headset.

Do you still have your old computer? If so, plug in your headset and see if the microphone still works there.
