Well I watched something today and it made me very happy about our troops and the people who have served in general, for our freedoms. And we all know we have a few guys in the unit and ßÄR who serve/served for their country.

The Gents in Our Unit Who Serve/Served:

S. Myers - U.S. Navy (Ret.)

J. Zahl - Forsvarets Spesialkommando - Hærens Jegerkommando (FSK-HJK) (Ret.)

W. Myers - U.S Army

A. Spear - U.S. Navy

M. McCarthy - U.S. National Guard

M. McDowell - U.S. Marines

C. McKenzie - U.S. Marines

S. Richards - U.S. Marines

R. Burk - U.S Marines

The Gents in ßÄR Who Serve/Served:

GMoney - U.S. Army (Ret.)

Thank you gentlemen who serve/served this country, our your own, we're all proud of you. Sorry for anybody who I did not list, but feel free to put their names here and the branch and country that they have serve/served in.

Raised in a military family, and being shipped from locale to locale, I feel as though I was raised a Marine. Yet, despite everything my dad and grandfather did, I never enlisted.

Words can't describe the respect I have for you all and everyone who enlists and puts their lives on the line for their country. It goes above and beyond all else when you are willing to risk your own safety for complete strangers who don't even know you exist. I was, as I have told many of you, raised by a Marine Corps DI, a complete hardass, but I learned a lot about how our military is viewed by the civilian community, and how little they are rewarded for their incredible sacrifices. If people only got to see things from your point of view, they may be a little more appreciative of exactly what you do.

Thank you all for the dedication and courage you show.

like ford i grew up with my whole dads side serving in the armed forces and several of my uncles on my moms side serving too. my dad did 3 tours in vietnam and i have nothing but respect for people willing to go into harms way to protect us. i have lost 1 family member in the iraq/afganistan conflict already and it hurts, but i know that they did not enlist without knowing that they might have to give up their life to protect us.

I've actually had the liberty of the Canadian Army in action. Honestly, they used old outdated equipment but that has little effect when you're neighbor is the US. What I saw though was very poorly trained. Could just be one unit though.

Just need to toss some respect to our friendly neighbors to the North. In 2006 in KAF I had the pleasure of serving with a few of those guys and had a great time. Quite professional and their medics were damn good troops who took a beating on the roads due to that nice, big, Red Cross on the side of their vehicle.

The Tim Horton's there at the "boardwalk" also saved one of my soldiers lives from a mortar. Had he not decided to be a fobbit and get a delicious double-double, he would be dead. A mortar hit the spot he was going to when he decided to take a detour inside. He swore to only drink coffee there. I had to tell him there were none to be had in North Carolina and that he would have to transfer to Drum. I think he got out and moved to Maine actually...

Props to Canada.
