Question

i get a steady 99-100 fps.. sometimes it drops down to 60.. there should be no reason for this i have a Radeon HD 5770 1gb card... phenom 3 core chip, 4 gigs of ddr2 ram, my motherboard is a Nforce... powersupply is only 400w.. my friend shrugs who has a worse pc then i do.. gets close to 200 fps.. is there anything i am doing wrong? could it be my powersupply bottle necking my card? i think i am in need of a new one... could it be my processor? this game is kinda outdated now.. i just really dont understand lol oh and my OS is win7 64bit. also have a badass 24inch LG flat screen hd monitor. anything else u need to know just ask im just saying all this off the top of my head.

what do u suggest any home remedies i can do to lower my cpu temp? i close almost every program cept virus scan and steam when playing games :S maybe its time to can of air the fans maybe thats causing it. but its been like this since i got my new card i was told id have amazing FPS once i got this radeon... and it isnt any better then my old shitty 512mb...

i know its seriously driving me nuts.. i think honestly its my powersupply bottlenecking it.. the recomendations were atleast a 450watt where as mine is only 400.. or its my who rig set up all together.. new parts in a older pc.. well 2 year old. i think if i had even a i5 setup with a bigger powersupply i wouldnt be having this prob with my card.

There still isnt enough information. I need to know all your in game settings. Also yes that PSU is way too small for crossfire. for 1 card it might be fine but not for 2. I suggest a 650watt or greater. I get around 200 FPS which varies greatly based on what im looking at and how much smoke and everything there is showing. Iv got 2 x 4850's crossfire, but I play at 1920x1200 resolution and all in game settings maxed out.

AMD Phenom 8450 Tri Core 2.10 ghz, 4gb ddr2, 64 bit win7 OS, Radeon HD 5770 1gb, my board is a Nvidia Nforce. i aint crossfiring only using the 1 card. and i agree that the PSU is way small for it..

my ingame settings are set too...

Resolution - 1920x1080 16:9

Model Detail - High

filtering - 2x

texture detail - very high

shader - low

water - reflect world

shadow - low

color correction enabled

antialising - none

motion blur- none

high dynamic - full

multi-rendering - enabled

v-sync - disabled

Yea that is low FPS for sure with those cards. Those 2 cards are better than mine. Id say its your psu...400watts is already pushing it just to run one 5770, let alone 2. Get a 650watt or better then try again. CPU and everything else looks just fine.

Just saw your on one of the original phenoms. I had a phenom 9950 for a while, and it was better than my dual core 2.2, but the original phenoms were not that great. This is just a side note but when you get some spar money I suggest picking up a newer tri or quad core cpu. As long as your motherboard is AM2+ they should be backward compatible.

thanks greco and St-Denis ive been thinking it was the PSU since i got the card :S it was only ment to be a temp one until i could afford a better one.. looks like imma have to cave and just get one next pay. :(

its not like really even noticeable while im playing... but i just know my card is bottlenecked and can be doing so much better.. i played modernwarfare 2 no choppiness on full graphic settings.. no reason why a game from the early 2000s should be running like shit LOL

Sorry for some reason I thought you mentioned two in crossfire. Still...one 5770 will perform about the same..maybe a tad slower than my setup. So I still believe that fps is low. Like I said try a new PSU, that should hopefully do the trick.
