got to say not to happy about jarhead its about my unit Second Battalion 7th marines, and it doesnt paint a really good picture of us.

Well it was based on a book who was written by a guy in the unit. I liked it because it was funny.

I liked Lone Survivor. It wasn't exactly super realistic, but goddamn was it vicious.

Full Metal Jacket is up there, along with Apocalypse Now (the redux version is exceptionally insane).

Along same lines, The Deer Hunter was AMAZING. Holy shit. I may watch that again tonight now that you reminded me of it.

John Woo's Red Cliff (second part was released a year later) was pretty damn good too. I'm not sure about how historically accurate it was, I'm not that well versed in Chinese history, but it was excellently told.

Defiance with James Bon...er, Daniel Craig, was decent...told a story I hadn't seen a thousand times before.

Cold Mountain was pretty fucking good. That one scene where the confederates blow up the union guys with the tunnel bomb and end up getting trapped in the crater...wow.

The suspense in this clip is great:

I can't find a video of what happens after this, but it was of a similar intensity as the opening scene in Saving Private Ryan. Not as well done (of course), but it tried.

Grave of the Fireflies holds a special place in my heart, up there as one of the most depressing films I've ever seen...and it's animated.

I could go on for days, I like war movies : )

FMJ was good but I kinda felt it fell off after they graduate boot camp. Lone survivor is awesome to! And who could forget apocalypse now!

Lone Survivor was the best war movie in the Middle East battle. For Vietnam, it was We Were Soldiers and The Green Berets. For WWII, I liked Saving Private Ryan and A Bridge Too Far. Those are my favorites.
