Resolved - Cant launch games/Missing Drivers

Question

Posted (edited)

Name: J. Samuels

Rank: SSgt

Type of issue: Hardware

Brief Description of Issue:

Background Info: I currently run a bootcamped version of Windows 7 on a (Mid2012) Macbook Pro which is how I do most of my gaming for the past few years. (Partitioned the hard drive)

Problem: A few days ago (12/27) there was a notification asking me to update a bunch of outdated drivers, normally I ignore the notifications, but I was doing some studying and I just decided to say yes to the updates. The current graphics drivers that I had before the update was a Nvidia version 306.somthingorwhatever updating to the 346 or 364 whatever it is on currently. Midway through the update it stopped saying that the installation could not be finished.

I have tried to uninstall the Nvidia drivers and reinstall the original ones that I had when I first Bootcamped my computer, but that failed. I also tried to restore Windows to before the update but that also failed.

My next idea is to completely delete Windows from my computer and to repartition the hard drive, and start back over from scratch.

Im out of ideas and have no clue what to do so I'm turning to you guys now, any thoughts?

Samuels,

Did you install the drivers on the PC side or the Mac side? It is not advisable to install drivers on the PC side. When a Mac is Bootcamped there ae specific drivers that go with that, I have had a mac bootcamped for a few years now and have only installed drivers from the Mac side if there is an update. At this point it is probably best to reinstall windows through bootcamp again.

I have a folder on the Mac side that has all of the drivers that you can download from Apples website that they recommend, and those have been working fine.

I brought that folder over to the Windows side to run the setup which repairs and replaces any missing drivers and after doing that i still cannot launch anything.
