Name: M. Gearhart

Rank: WO.

Type of issue: (Software, Hardware, Steam, Not sure) Not sure

Brief Description of Issue: Hi,

I have been having issues with this lately. Before i crash my ping in Ventrilo Spikes to 10,000+. "java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" I am not sure if this is because I changed my name? It happens about every minute to five minutes after I join. I have tried trouble shooting this error my self, but a lot of the tickets have been unresolved. Any help is great.

Thanks!

that sounds like a java error. You will get those when you have fragments in your registry that are unused. Clean your registry and then update the Java. Wouldn't hurt to do a defrag on the HD either. Might have to run a java repair also. not sure if the java is separate or part of Minecraft. I don't play that game.

What version windows and java are you using? Are you playing the game with your computer set as the host server? lot of people seem to be having the problem when their computer is the host server and they are playing the game on the same computer.

everything I have been reading indicates it is in the server that the problem lies. Not sure there is anything you can do about it. Will continue to research it. is it just you, or is everyone else getting this same error message that you are playing with?

Are you connected to the internet with a hardwire or are you connecting wifi? For some reason, those connected wifi seem to have this problem a lot. We might need to take a look at your router.

Popping in here a bit late.

Could you post a stack trace of the error? It might be in the %appdata%\.minecraft\crash-reports folder or it might be in the server logs.

With that I could narrow down the possibilities significantly.

Strike that, it doesn't seem like this error has a stack trace in most logs and it doesn't generate a crash report.

If you guys are playing with mods, it could be a bug in the mods that you are using.

If the server has plugins running, it could also be causing some network congestion via a bug.

This is all assuming that Ventrilo ping is spiking before this happens, and then returns to normal once you are disconnected from the Minecraft server via the error.

It might be worth looking at the networking tab of Task Manager to see how heavy your network utilization gets during this error.

Also, when you same name change, are you talking about your Mojang account having a name change, or is this a name changing plugin/mod that the server is running?
