She saved her partners life. I would never try and tazer someone that had a gun. I would shoot to kill. That's the way I was trained.

I know right! I got so worried as soon as i saw the gun and the cop only had his taser. Good thing that female officer had a quick draw because he could have easily lost his life.

I saw this completely different, what I see is the female officer acting frantic. The male officer can be saw reaching for his firearm as the camera turns back towards the suspect and the tazer comes up. The female pulled her firearm and fired 3 shots after her male partner emptied his clip. Either way if they had been alone one of them would probably be dead and im thankful that this POS is the one on the ground and not the other way around.

I was shaking my head NO when I saw the male Officer turn his back to the guy and lead him out of the restaurant. I also would have frisked him in the bathroom before taking him out. To many civilians inside. If the guy had drawn his weapon inside, there might be dead civilians. They were who was suppose to be protected, as well as the Officers personal safety. We always assumed the person was armed til we knew different.

This is the video from the male officer and it seems i was mistaken thanks for pointing it out. Im with hill though they should have frisked him. but i guess they just thought to themselves ehhh just another drunk no big deal

no video starts with sgt Green stating that the man was a suspect in a theft case. To me that was the big mistake as with his back turned the man could have shot him then turned and shot officer Griffin. the fact that Green had his arm on the man when he went to draw probably saved Griffins life and allowed him time to draw his own firearm and shot the man. the reason they escorted him out that way seems for the reason that they wanted him away from innocent people. still scary shit.

They should have frisked him there and cuffed him there, in the bathroom. As they were walking him out of the restaurant, they wanked past a knife on a table. the Officer pushed it back. He could have just as easily grabbed it and stabbed the officer behind him. The officer in front had his back to him. He would have been the next to die. If they had done their job right, like I was trained to do, he would be in jail instead of dead. The male officer drew and fired a tazer, not a pistol.

What I see, is that there were some grievous errors made on both sides. The cops made several errors in detaining the suspect, as Hill points out (And he's very much right. While I suspect they didn't want to do that in the bathroom as it was a dangerous place to be detaining someone, it would have been safer to search him there before dealing with him as he was out of public view and there was no one else nearby.) The error by the suspect was a tactical one. He drew on two armed officers, one on his back and the other on his side. Moreover, judging by his disposition, it appeared he was inebriated and in no way was likely to be able to shoot properly. Another error was not properly reading the suspect. As an EMT who has had experience working with police and inebriated individuals, the phrase "Get on the same page," generally translates to "I'm gonna do something I want back-up."

Now, down to the shooting. The female officer sees a gun (And who wouldn't be frantic? That gun was outright in her face. I'd be a little flipped out too,) calls it and goes for her tazer. Now, whether that was a mistake or an intentional choice, the male officer makes the decision to escalate to lethal force. At which point, the female officer drops her tazer and draws her gun as well. The question to be asking is whether she drew the tazer on purpose or just grabbed the first handle she found, and realized it wasn't her handgun. I suspect (And this is simply a guess) that she drew her tazer on accident, and realized her mistake when she saw that quick flash of yellow that I saw on the screen.

The lesson to be learned is: Don't draw down on officers. He didn't even get a shot off (Again, likely because he was drunk,) and took at least six rounds to the chest and back. Meanwhile, the officers were likely wearing body armor that would've helped them significantly. The only unfortunate thing is that this could have been avoided with a couple of choices by the officers. That being said, in the end this guy made a poor decision and paid a very serious price for it. I feel no sympathy for him.

I feel sorry for the Officer that had to shoot him. Its not easy taking someones life. Its something that can bother you for the rest of your life. Even though the Officers were justified, it could have been prevented. That's what will bother the Officers the most. If they had done things different, could they have prevented his death? They may even think twice if the situation arises again. Next time, the Officer may not be so lucky.
