Hey guys as most of you know it is today that Windows 10 have been released even for free.

I have beeen looking forward to Windows 10 for a long time now. Mostly because i hate the new modern UI fullscreen. I will try give you a quick rundown of the most important new things in Windows 10.

The Full screen UI system ( the one you are directed to when you press the start button in Windows 8 and 8.1 )

This UI thing have been a pain in the *** for me ever since it came out. However i know a lot of people likes it because it gives easy acces to apps and programs. Windows 10 has made a compromise between windows 7 and 8 that they have done by making the UI optional. This means that when you press you start button you will get the old windows 7 menu but you will also see the Ui system pop up right next to it. In my opinion this is a great thing.

DirectX12

DirectX12 is what the gamers have been hungering for. This new system makes the computer cooperation with the graphic card(s) way better it increases the performance and gives the extra boost we are all looking for. However this will require that you have a descent grapgic card(s).

HEVC

This will allow you to watch video in an impressive 8k. So for you guys making movies and clips this will be a great new feature.

Multiple new features

Windows 10 offers a lot of new and cool features which i can´t wait to get started with. I am not gonna go through all of them i will just highlight the things i like the most (See the Gamers version explanation in the bottom to see all features).

New things:

Searchbar in the buttom next to the start button

Item tech boxes

Task view switcher

Multiple desktops

When to get the new Windows 10

I know we are all anxiuos to get our hands on all these great things. However i am gonna wait 2-3 weeks before i am gonna install Windows 10. The reason why i am waiting is that there is still some starter problems although there have been a lot of beta versions i don´t want to go in details with all the things. Give Windows a few weeks to improve Windows 10 and get the things improved even more then you will be even happier with it than you would be if you download it now.

I hope all this helped you guys out a bit. If you got any questions to this please contact me and i will try to answer them.

My explanations might not be the best so i have found a few youtube clip which i think explain it in a great way.

The straight on explanation

The gamer edition explanation

Another reason I wanted to wait til I installed Windows 10 is this reason listed below. I had heard these things from some people I know. I am not sure if it is true or not, but thought I would make sure before I installed it.

Disturbing news, Microsoft says is reading and accessing all the content in your computer, mail, movies, data, audio, excel files, pictures, porn, pirated items, torrents, illegal speech, etc. and if they find something illegal, you will be accused as a criminal to FBI and local Police

The part about files is only if you use cloud storage like OneDrive, gDrive, etc. If you are using those, then you know you are giving up your privacy.

here is the statement:

“We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to.”

Windows 10 is spying on almost everything you do – here’s how to opt out

Windows 10 is amazing. Windows 10 is fantastic. Windows 10 is glorious. Windows 10 is faster, smoother and more user-friendly than any Windows operating system that has come before it. Windows 10 is everything Windows 8 should have been, addressing nearly all of the major problems users had with Microsoft’s previous-generation platform in one fell swoop.

But there’s something you should know: As you read this article from your newly upgraded PC, Windows 10 is also spying on nearly everything you do.

It’s your own fault if you don’t know that Windows 10 is spying on you. That’s what people always say when users fail to read through a company’s terms of service document, right?

Well, here is Microsoft’s 12,000-word service agreement. Some of it is probably in English. We’re pretty sure it says you can’t steal Windows or use Windows to send spam, and also that Microsoft retains the right to take possession of your first-born child if it so chooses. And that’s only one of several documents you’ll have to read through.

Actually, here’s one excerpt from Microsoft’s privacy statement that everyone can understand:

——————–

Finally, we will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to: 1.comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including from law enforcement or other government agencies; 2.protect our customers, for example to prevent spam or attempts to defraud users of the services, or to help prevent the loss of life or serious injury of anyone; 3.operate and maintain the security of our services, including to prevent or stop an attack on our computer systems or networks; or 4.protect the rights or property of Microsoft, including enforcing the terms governing the use of the services – however, if we receive information indicating that someone is using our services to traffic in stolen intellectual or physical property of Microsoft, we will not inspect a customer’s private content ourselves, but we may refer the matter to law enforcement.

———–

If that sentence sent shivers down your spine, don’t worry. As invasive as it is, Microsoft does allow Windows 10 users to opt out of all of the features that might be considered invasions of privacy. Of course, users are opted in by default, which is more than a little disconcerting, but let’s focus on the solution.

Rock Paper Shotgun has broken things down into four main bullet points that will guide you through regaining control of your personal data.

First, you’ll want to open Settings and click on Privacy. There, you’ll find 13 different screens — yes, 13 — to go through, and you’ll want to disable anything that seems worrying. The blog notes that most of the important settings can be found on theGeneral tab, though other tabs are important as well. For example, you’ll definitely want to adjust what types of data each app on your system can access.

Next, users should consider dumping Cortana. Yes, the voice-driven assistant iseasily one of the best new features in Windows 10, but it also plays fast and loose with your data. As a result, many users will find that the benefits do not outweigh the risks.

For the third task, you’ll have to venture outside the confines of your PC and hit the web. Perhaps this is a good opportunity to check out Microsoft’s nifty new Edge browser. In it, click on this link and set both “Personalised ads in this browser” and “Personalised ads wherever I use my Microsoft account” to off. This will disable Microsoft’s Google-style ad tracking features.

The last tip is one that most users will likely forgo, as it is a bit excessive. Rock Paper Shotgun recommends removing your Microsoft account from Windows 10 completely and using a newly made local account instead. This way, Microsoft doesn’t grab hold of all your data to sync it across machines. To us that’s a great and useful feature, but if you want to kill it just follow the link below in our source section for complete instructions and plenty more details.

you realize everyone has that statement in one form or another these days right?

If they are approached by law enforcement to release your information (typically with a warrant) they must disclose it. Your ISP provider does this, google does this, facebook does this, every online service you use does this. Nothing new, just fear mongering by social media.

Do not do anything illegal and you wont have issues down the road, at the same time those 3 movies you downloaded probably will not get you stung, but download 1000 and they might look at you.

So there was a service update my system installed this morning, and my issues with the .exe file has disappeared so far.

It reappeared after a patch 2 days ago, and I did some additional digging and found this option to disable it:

Right click on your computer icon on the desktop and click properties

Go to Advance system settings

Click the button called "Environment Variables"

Click the “New” button under User variables or System variables depending if you want the change to affect all the users on the system or just the one you are currently logged as

Set the variable name to MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS and its value to 1

So far so good. Will keep you posted.

I just recently had to upgrade, my windows 7 wouldnt update without forcing me to upgrade to windows 10, which really irked me because I know taking a beta version of a windows OS because 1 games may or may not work on the new system unless you wipe your harddrive of old save files and update which is a pain when it's a 16 GB file. second some of your games wont even work properly. So I might just switch to linux and get the software to play non linux supported games. I cant even find where to defrag my harddrive on the new OS layout of the desktop.

For some reason, Windows 10 is not compatible with my Firefox browser now. When I go to my browser, it looks like it is loading all the time and I cannot watch any videos from the browser. I can go to other sites and watch them though, just not in Firefox. I can go through to our forums and have no problem there, but when I go back to my homepage, it doesn't work right. Firefox is aware of the problem, which was caused by a windows 10 upgrade, and will have a fix in a week or 2. Looks to me like Microsoft is trying to make people use their browsers.

I used to used Firefox and Chrome, but I have been using Opera for about 6 months. I do not know all the specifics but everything has been running smoothly with seemingly less attacks from spyware. It works great on Windows 10 as well. Just a thought, maybe try a different browser. It can't hurt =)

So, is the jump from Windows 7 to Windows 10 a definite yes or should I stick with Windows 7 on my despktop comp? I already upgraded my laptop from Win8 to Win10 but I don't see much difference except the return of the start menu for which I am thankfull. I don't use my laptop to play games though, I mostly just use it for Netflix, Facebook, Youtube and the Office suite as Word and Excel.

My desktop computer is more for gaming and running graphics intensive stuff such as cartography software (using ESRI's ArcGIS 10) and a lot of Google Earth. I didn't feel the need to upgrade it from Win7 to Win10 before reading this thread but seeing that you guys get better fps and general graphics makes me wonder.

As written you get both DirectX10 and HEVC with windows 10.

DirectX10 will improve how the computer cooperates with your graphiccard(s) which should make your game run a bit smoother.

HEVC is making video in 8k possible

So if i was you i would upgrade but it is not that important. If you are happy with Windows 7 and you prefer that i do not see any reason for you to switch. But Windows 10 will be an improvement for you.

Recent patch from Microsoft has given me back my Firefox, which I like as my browser. where the problem will be, like with my son, is the upgrade. Its 64 bit. My son did not listen to me and get a 64 bit OS. He got the 32 bit OS and now all the good games are going to 64 bit. He cannot play them. Can't use the free upgrade. Why do children never listen to their wise Fathers?
