go to the list of games where Skyrim is located. Right click Skyrim, go to Properties. Go to third tab, local files, click browse local files. That will bring up files and look for Skyrim launcher. Click it. it should launcher showing options of Play, Options, Data Files, tech Support, or Exit. Click options to change graphic settings. If launcher still crashes you will need to verify integrity of game.

Also need to know your Operating system, 32 or 64 bit, Type of graphics card, since Skyrim is a very graphics intense game, and how much RAM you have and how much free space you have on your HD.

To turn down the graphics on your computer, you will need to go to the software associated with it and set it to performance instead of quality if it is an ATI card. Click anywhere on your screen to bring it up and click settings from menu to adjust the graphics setting. If you have problems, contact me and let me know when it is a good time to get with you on vent and I will try and talk you through it.

Just to throw another suggestion on to the pile, in my research I came across reports in some cases of Skyrim having issues with in-game overlays (Teamspeak, Fraps, Raptr, Mumble, Ventrilo, Steam, etc.). Try closing all of these if they are running, and then of course launch it directly from SkyrimLauncher.exe as administrator.

Not sure if it will work, but it is worth a shot.

I tried it! I did what you said but the steam restarted it self up and the game crashed like always!

Disable the Steam Overlay on specific games only by right-clicking on the game title, click on "Properties" and uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game" in the "General" tab.

Try this option and let me know.

You are running Skyrim without any mods, correct?

Edit: In the mean time, could you also try running the game in compatibility mode?

Right-click the Skyrim Launcher exe and click properties... Then go to the compatibility tab. You'll see "Run in compatibility mode." Check it and select your system. If that doesn't work and you are on something besides Windows 7, try selecting Windows 7 from the drop down.

I know this feels like taking shots in the dark, but it is the best we can do when the program only gives such a simple error message... :/

It worked!!! Had to start the game as windows 8. Must be something about Windows 10.

good to hear. Will leave the ticket open for a few days to make sure it doesn't happen again. NOW we know that Skyrim is not yet compatible with Windows 10. make note everyone.
