Source editor background

Is there any way to switch either the background color or the text color when I am writing in the ''Source''?

Ok, I've forced it to have the same background as the RTE.  Now to figure out why it only takes up a portion of the editor area....

I've been working to change the CSS for that, I haven't quite found the page I need to edit.  I might just have to hack some inline color into it.  Do you guys think light on dark would be better, or just fix the text color to make it visible?

Since the whole forum is white text on a dark background I think the same might be better for the source.

Agreed.  A dark color on a white background may be nice for the Source, but after it is posted, it may be difficult to read on a dark background.  Would be better to change the background on the source if possible.

The hard part is finding where my CSS changes are valid.  Usually my fixes are overwritten somewhere else in the many css files.  I was only able to get it to turn grey by adding the !important attribute, which has potential to cause problems.  

 

I'll see if I can do the same for the width.

I ended up removing my comment and moving it to another thread since this one already had a reply marked as the solution.

 

In any case, the relevant style was on the actual element, and not in any of the css files. Changing "width: 100%" to "max-width: 100%" was enough to change it since element style has higher specificity than class style.

 

Unless the style is being added to the element via javascript (a la jQuery), it should be editable in the relevant template or html file.

 

In regards to !important, I agree. It can lead to unintended side effects that are sometimes hard to trace down later.
