I agree part of the reasoning behind this was a 9 year old girl went to check the mail. She lived only about 2 miles away from my home. When a student at the college was texting on her phone and killed the kid. The kids family helped pushed the bill into getting passed into law.

I agree, texting and driving is dumb. Usually when I see people doing that, I'll admit - I'm a dick. I honk, flip-em-off, cut 'em off, brake check them, etc. Anything to get them to put down their phone and pay attention.

My house is in a culdesac and my boys ride their bicycles around out there (I'm out there with them). And I tell you, sometimes even people pulling into their driveways are HAULING ASS!! I usually give them the 'evil eye' - I've even had words with one guy. If one of them ever hit my kid, you'd bet your ass 911 would be called, and the driver would need an ambulance.

Yeah I think in Wisconsin if the police see you not really paying attention then they can pull you over. I know we have the hands free law, but I heard somewhere that they are trying to get like some kind of device that would nullify texting in a vehicle like those cameras they install in teenagers cars.

really?, that would be bullshit.

Ok so, I know its my opinion but ... I do agree with the law. However, at which point is this shit going to stop. Did you know that when car radios originally came out back in the day, they were outlawed just like talkin/texting on the phone. People realized eventually that it isnt the option of having the device or the device itself that is causing the problem, its how and when people use it. aka people are the problem, cuz .. well ... their dumb. Which raises a chicken/egg discussion about being able to use the device in question.

Would people eventually start to realize, yes texting is dumb, or texting isnt as important to do as they thought it was while in the car. Hence this is why car radios are now legal and commonly accepted in cars. Now, by no means does that mean people are safer with or without them in there. Numerous accidents each year come from some deucher changing a radio station. But the stigma and appropriate use of the device has changed from what it was.

My point to this is, radio was banned, talking on cell phone = banned. texting = banned; whats next? I have heard numerous discussions about this on WGN radio in chicago. There are legit groups that want to ban eating in your car, drinking (pop/coffee/soda/etc.) in your car, and finally, the straw that breaks my camels back, smoking in your car.

catch my drift? at what point do we just need to tell people they are dumb asses because the laws that we have to make to keep them in order, are effecting my daily life/god given constitutional rights.

I'd have to agree that global intelligence hasn't caught up with the upgrades in technology; however, govt wasn't as big during radio trials as it is now. They make car radios easier to handle as well, which has decreased the amount of deaths secondary to fiddling with said radio. They've also included voice calling in vehicles making it easier to talk hands free as well. I do think its funny that texting is taking a lot of heat because I'm sure there's plenty of GPS users who are doing the same thing. Anything that requires taking your attention from the act of driving will increase accident risk; even the act of viewing your side mirrors takes away attention to what is in front you..

I think the problem with enacting no texting laws is its effectiveness. You have to be caught doing this to get in trouble; what is needed is prevention. Then we open a whole new can of worms with how to prevent this happening. I know my GPS won't let me navigate to another area if the car is still moving, but what if I'm not the one driving? Ok thats my two cents.

Just another feel-good law that can't be adequately enforced. It would be nice if people were responsible enough about their own lives and the lives of others, and focused only on driving. As a physics major, it scares me to see how people operate a 500+ pound vehicle at even 25 mph. The amount of force right there would knock your socks off...or knock you out of your socks :P

I don't think laws are going to fix what upbringing should. I have one friend who will text, BOTH HANDS, while driving and I'm always telling him to stop. If you're raised to have no sense, or too much sense of your "ability," that's where problems start. I can talk and drive, but even then I recognize that my reactions are delayed, my focus lessened.

No it won't!

As a physics major you should be aware of the Mythbusters experiment to actually and quite literally "Knock one's socks off". But it's not possible!

Couldn't even do it with C4.

( Steam or PC Game Pass) Yes   Why do you wish to join the 1st Marine Raiders? I've played BFV and milsimed in it, and it was a lot more fun when I milsimed. and I enjoy playing HLL, so I think it is going to be more fun when I join.   Did any of our current members play a part in you enlisting? If so, who? If none, how did you learn about us: I found you guys from a website called disboard when looking for HLL milsim groups to join.   This unit offers more than just a place to play games with each other, do you have any online skills you think would be useful? no   Do you have any Leadership experience that you think will be helpful? I'm not sure if it will be helpfull, but I used to be in BFV milsim groups and in my last one I got to [E-7] out of [E-1] to [O-8], so I was a NCO and I helped the officers with whatever they needed doing, weather it was assisting with training, settling disputes or helping them decide what was appropriate disciplinary action. And when we were in combat I was usually assigned to lead my own squad.   Have you ever been in a realism unit before, and if so, which unit was it? yes. I was in quite a few BFV milsim groups, although I was only in one at any given time. unfortunately, I have left the discord servers and I do not remember the names of them. if you would like, I could probably give a reference to someone who was an officer in most of the groups I was in.   By posting this Enlistment form, I acknowledge the instructions completely, declare that I am 16 years old or older, and agree that I have and will follow server and unit rules maturely and respectfully or face immediate rejection.
