When I was in Highschool I belonged to an arts programmed known as WCCA. I was the principle trumpet player in our wind ensemble and concert band and later worked and formed the programs first jazz band! Here is one of my favourites from Maynard Ferguson!

I appreciate all the input guys, I believe there's a jazz genre for every season, time, occassion.

I'm more of a hard bop or bebop type of guys but again so many different types.

Have you ever heard of Jazz Fusion or Progressive Metal. These are some great bands which fit into that category: Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report, Ron Jarzombek projects, Lye By Mistake, Alarum, Spiral Architect and Necrophagist.
