Question

Hey- if anyone can help me, that would be awesome. I have a 500gb ssd that I use for basically everything. I also have a 1tb hard drive that is empty. When I update anything, it tells me that I dont have enough disk space. I have a bunch of games, but only have 2 games installed, and one is DoD:S. These 2 should take very little. I must have a BUNCH of shit somewhere that I just cant find to delete. How do I find the larger files so I can get rid of them?

My first step would be to look at the Disk Cleanup settings. In Win 10 or 11, it should open if you open settings and search for the term "disk cleanup".

In Win 11, it shows me how much of my space is Installed Apps, Temporary Files, Recycling Bin. That should give you some idea of what's hogging up all the SSD.

If it's installed apps, you might have to pair down your roster a bit (if possible even). Otherwise, you might be able to clean up some space from stuff that's been dangling for no reason in Temp or Recycling.

Just be careful not to wipe your downloads or personal files if you want to keep them.

If that wasn't helpful at all, hit me back and we'll see if there's something else we can do.

I know you guys use Medal.tv, I'm not entirely sure how/where it saves your video files but any sort of recordings for games usually start adding up and take up a lot of space. I'd check to see where that's being saved and try to clear that out. Just remember to empty the recycle bin on your desktop to help clear up some space.

If Medal.tv does store video files locally, I'd see if you can possibly change the location of where it gets saved to; you could point the save location to a new folder on your 1tb Hard Drive if it's generally empty.

I will check that, thanks. When first setting up Medal, it asks you what the memory cap is.  Think I have it set to 50mb. So, the theory is that when you reach the threshold, it will save the new ones and drop the old ones, but it’s worth checking

I have done the disk cleanup and got rid of all the medal recordings. It freed up about 8gb, but there are still a couple hundred gb unaccounted for. I will try Hansens idea next

Thanks Hansen! That worked like a charm. Earlier this month, I backed up my phone to iTunes so I could reset it... there was 183GB file that I do not need, and now I have plenty of space left.
