English Only?

I checked the server rules, and then I checked the reiteration of the server rules. Nothing mentioned in either places listed the server as being English only. Is this a server rule or not, and if so could it be added to the MOTD?

Our server is both English speaking servers. It's not very hard to understand that when the MOTD is on English and the server is stationed in USA.

That doesn't answer my question, it simply states that the servers primary location is in an English speaking country and uses Primarily English. It doesn't say someone is not allowed to use another language in the server without being kicked or muted.

It answers your question quite well.. We give people a warning if they speak another language than English.

No offense intended, just wanted to hear some sort of official ruling on this as it seems to be arbitrarily enforced and is, as far as I know, not stated any clearer anywhere else than your above post. Thank you.

I know what cosby is talking bout we have pubbers that insult those that come into our server that do not speak english, which is disturbing.

We don't have it posted that our servers are English only because there is no actual rule that we are an English only server... We just prefer that players speak English because this is a USA based server.

You can speak another language all you want until someone asks you to stop. It basically comes down to whether or not the admin on duty wants to hear it or not. If you need a reason, I think Mic-Spamming covers it, and ignoring admins would be another. If they ask you to stop, wouldn't it be common courtesy to just listen and stop? I'm sorry if anyone disrespected you for speaking another language, but English is the prominent language in our servers.

Nah, it wasn't me who was kicked, just to clear that up. I just don't want to see anyone discriminated against in the server for not being able to speak english, but I also don't want people ignoring admins or mic spamming either. If the incident I was thinking about involved an admin asking some players to not mic spam or that he preferred english at this time that would be different. But what I got was that this was an english only server and so we should only be speaking english here, and if you are not communicating with another player using english you will be kicked/muted. Seems unfair to me to discriminate that way in such a small community, when european and non english speaking players help keep the server alive, and it is such an easy thing to ignore or mute yourself clientside. Do the first marines want to foster an environment that is poisonous for non english speakers? I think some of your finer members are from overseas, and as such would be disrespectful to them. I think though what you have said is closely aligned with my thoughts anyways.

If I'm not overstepping myself let me say this: The Raiders that are from different countries SPEAK English on the server, and they have no problem with that so trying to use that as a key point is useless.

when we are playing a game in the pub and two people are talking in a different language it is not useful to the rest of the pubbers and i have seen people leave because of that. it more often then not happens when two people decide to come into the pub and then speak in a different language. It is a form of isolation from the other players and is sometimes rude especially if the other players were talking. i see no problem with a short conversation BUT most times when people do do this they make no point to try to speak English they come in and start talking over those speaking English. this might not have happened in this case but it seems to be what happens most of the time. As the Major said it is up to the admins and usually there is not a problem as long as the primary language used is English.

Also it is anyones guess what is being said when a foreign language is being used and for all we know they could be disrespecting players or the unit.

(the thoughts and actions of the speaker are not necessarily the same as the unit. therefore if you have a question to this message me Azrael_shinigami)

The two pubbers asked to speak english only, knew english, and quite well i might add. I told them to stop. They didnt. The main one was kicked, the other was muted. they were both given fair warning. Upon the return of the kicked "victim" as you see it, he was speaking english and apologized. but you wouldnt know that since you left in a hurry to post the problem on our forums.

The other was unmuted and both played while speaking english for another hour or two.

Don't get me wrong, i am glad you are taking our pub so seriously. Next time try workin WITH the unit of the server you are playing on, instead of a against it. I have been an admin for a long time, and i dont like being questioned. Deffinately not by someone who isnt in the unit.

If this was the first incident that I've seen I wouldn't care so much. Its not though and its happened this way before in unfairer circumstances. I did question your call, and I'm not afraid to stick my neck out for something I see as unjust. Do as you will, but I don't think its entirely fair to portray how I responded like that though, because I did not swear at you and makes me seem more disrespectful than I was. That being said nobody likes to be questioned, I understand your feelings and I appologize if how I responded seemed overly severe for you. If nobody ever said anything about potentialy unjust uses of power, where would we be in the world. Its one of the things your unit represents. I am here to clear this up, not drag anyones name through the mud. Sometimes civvies questioning authority is a good thing. I think overall its a good thing to have policy clarified here so no potential disrespect happens over ambiguous policies.

Just face it, you play on a us server with english hostname and MOTD and 90%+ has proably english as mother tongue.. So if you don't speak english, then thats your problem. Find another server to play on that most likely has a better ping for you.

And Cosby you can just quit your disrespect talk, you don't know that this unit does to make everyone comfortable.. We don't require our pubbers to speak english, but if they are gonna be talking in the server and causing havok something will be done.

I think everybody in the server should be speakin english at all time, but thats my opinion..
