Well In my opinion it wouldnt have worked anyways as the state wouldnt have defended against the DEA against the proposed measures as they do not do already. Prop 215 and Sb420 state that medical marijuana clinics can be opened and only distribute marijuana to patients that have a doctors recommendation that marijuana is the only further preventative medicine suggested for their patients.

These Legal Clinics get raided by the DEA with unsigned warrants very often, and the owners of these clinics that are operating under state law are in the state prison system serving 5-20 years in prison for it. In order for California to make any money of this proposed proposition 19 it requires these new form of distribution centers to stay open and be able to sell their product to be able to tax it. With the DEA already releasing that no new form of leniency will fall on the state of California if this proposition passes and the state itself already not defending previous marijuana propositions. WHATS THE POINT. It's still just as easy to go down the street and get a sack if your going to go down the street and get a sack.

IMO, it would never have passed anyways even if california had the means to defend itself against the DEA, as there are far to many people with a complete wrong idea Blown out of proportion ideals about what the drug really is from previous years of WAR on Marijuana campaigns, Though never partaking of the herb themselves to get a thought process going that someone else didnt have to tell them about it.

You guys would really be taken back to find out how much money was spent by companies that dont want this product legalized. Because if it was, there would be a VAST drop off in sales. Budweiser, Top #5 anti-marijuana campaign contributer. All those fucking commercials you see about 1/3 teens that smokes weed sucks start a shotgun. yeah fuck you budweiser. I dont drink your beer anyways. Even more suprisingly is the textile industry, If marijuana became legalized of course hemp production would come back into a full bore operation. Creating jobs imo to cultivate harvest and process the product into threading materials, clothes, and industrial products as it was since the time before George Washington grew it on his farm, until the 1920's. and plenty more, if you get a little insight as who's motives are really behind things.

People are going to smoke it regardless of its legality. The only difference now, is that they'll be giving money to mexican drug cartels instead of earning tax revenue off of american grown plants. GG California, and GG Arizona, for losing the medicinal marijuana bill by 1%

Posted

We can't control it now, so how could we control it if it were legal? People will still buy from the drug cartels if we legalized it because taxes would make it more expensive than the cartels. May as well hold on to some ethical standard with it.

In BC its almost easier for a teen to get pot than to get alcohol. My personal feeling is that legalized marijuana could be taxed and would be a massive revenue generator for the Province. I also imagine that legalized marijuana would drive the price of BC grown marijuana down as competition with Mexico and other cartels would not be as high due to the fact that it could be grown legally. It would become economically unviable to smuggle drugs across the borders just to sell it openly. Additionally, in BC it would be sold like alcohol, in government regulated facilities, not at the local cornerstore or supermarket.

However, obviously some oversight would be necessary and the health risks would have to be carefully weighed. A recent report by the British health industry provided evidence that alcohol is more dangerous to society than is any other drug.

One thing you guys can't forget is the overhead it will cost to do this. There will be unions that will run this stuff and it will be extremely expensive.

judging by your post, I think it may be safe to assume you dont know the difference between fine American grown chronic, and mexican dirt weed (the kind that is smuggled in every day). If weed was legal for purchase here, I would only buy American grown purple sticky punch, not gasoline/harispray covered and compressed dirty regie, and every single pot head i know shares that same stance, regardless of cost. Why is it such a bad thing? Why dont people want it legal? If you dont like pot, you dont have to smoke pot, but saying you dont want other people to smoke pot because you dont like it, is fucking stupid. Where in the constitution does it say that the government should regulate what people ingest? Maybe someone can help me out here, because i cant seem to find that clause.

i made that post in a bit of a drunken rage, and it wont let me edit it. I think we both know how this discussion is going to turn out, so ill just summarize it so we can save time by not having it.

Gmoney: Here is my clearly stated opinion on the matter of marijuana

Hopkins: Here is my clearly stated opinion on the matter of marijuana

Gmoney: I disagree, here is my rebuttle

Hopkins: I also disagree, here is my rebuttle

so on and so forth and no opinions are changed or influenced over the course of the next 10 replies.

Hopkins: I'm sorry i posted in such a rage filled manor, and i respect your right to your opinion

Gmoney: Likewise

Hopkins: Good talk Gmoney

You know I saw a documentary on the History channel last night about pot. I guess there have been multiple studies where medicinal marijuana has only been beneficial in like 3% of all the cases scientifically. The other 97% has just been a good feeling and served no real medicinal purpose. Weird though....

Then my question to you two (Zahl and Gmoney) is this. Why so adamant against Marijuana?

I personally don't smoke it, but I see no reason to cast down holier than thou judgement towards those who do.

Vice Versa, those of you who do smoke pot, have no reason to sit here and try and sell the idea to people who don't smoke it.

We have had several posts on these forums about pot, all of them have ended the same way. Let's just end this one here and now.

People will always smoke pot, be it legal, or illegal.

That is the only fact that has 100% truth behind it when it comes to Marijuana.

Exactly, pot is just a gateway drug to complete stupidness.. and tougher drugs!

your right zalh marijuana IS a gate way drug, but it is only so because of prohabition. If have a illega productl thats in demand then you are more lilkly to end up seeing other harder drugsz, then for example when u go to a drug dealer to get some pot , he might offer you something stronger. SO Due to prohabition, due to mariujuana being illegal, it makes it a gateway drug. To sum it up, when u go n buy alcohol the cashier will never offer you some black tar heroin with your hennesy purchase.

Watch the documentary called The Union, if your interested on all angles of this topic, but not like much is gonna change for another two years :(

Smoking pot hasn't any good sides, only if used for medical treatment, and even there it is looked upon as a skeptical way of hindering pain.

Exactly, pot is just a gateway drug to complete stupidness.. and tougher drugs!

Well now let's look at the "good" side. Medically, we use it for patients to compensate for the side affects of chemo treatments, i.e., nausea, loss of appetite, control of some pain, the same with end stage Aids patients. It provides some relief, though we still have nothing out there that can totally can relieve pain. It has improved some quality of life for these patients. In the treatment of Glaucoma, Inter Ocular Hypertension, it has been shown to relieve the symptoms and reduce the eye pressure in patients.

There is no clear evidence that shows that marijuana is a gateway to harder drugs. The association comes from being illegal. Those that sell illegal drugs, sell everything, not just pot.

As far as I know, there has been nothing to show that marijuana is an addictive drug. Though cigarettes are. Alcohol can be.

Look at the recent stuff presented about the social cost of alcohol related to other harmful drugs, there is no mention of marijuana.

The leading factor in Domestic Violence is Alcohol, not marijuana. Druck driving leading the race in traffic related deaths. Marijuana????? When was the last time you went to a club and a fight didn't break out. How about the same club and somebody was shot, knifed, killed? Marijuana????

Pot is just a gateway drug to complete stupidness? and harder drugs???? Come on, really????

The cost of treating alcoholism is in the billions of dollars, billions. Millions of people die from smoking tobacco. Still haven't heard anything on marijuana, have you?

Alcohol is legal. Tobacco is legal. Why is marijuana illegal?

If people want to smoke pot, I don't care. Just don't do it in open public where it can be inhaled second hand. Do it in your home then don't go driving and shit. If they legalize it, they need to have much more strict rules with it. For instance one time where you are busted with it while driving then you're done: heavy fines, loss of license for years, jail time, etc. There have to be measures in place to protect the people who choose not to do it and be more healthy.

Hmm..

Im very against drugs, that i don't hide because my brother almost died from it. I KNOW marijuana is a gateway drug, because of my brother and study of society in general. Wether it is legalize or not it will still be. You can't compare alcohol to marijuana, because i doesn't affect you in the same way.

No doubt a reason because marijuana isnt legalized is because of its illegal distribution by narco barons in Mexico. But legalizing it wouldn't make it better, it would make it worse.. Free flow of marijuana from Mexico to US. Narco barons can easily take care of Mexican police. Its the US who stand for all their losses of drugs. For people who are addicted it doesn't matter if its good weed or bad weed, but as long as it gets you high. The case here isnt about how bad it would be for you, because both cigarettes, marijuana and alcohol is bad for you. And especially cigarettes and marijuana can cause cancer (Yes, scientist have found cellular abnormalities in weed smokers).

Besides, who the fuck wants to live in a initiative-less world were everybody runs around high, and does nothing? Great minds smoke cigarettes not weed.

TOPIC CLOSED, want to discuss.. come vent or send me a message over the forum..

ps. i wont answer if your high
