The center handed the quarterback the ball, which signals the play is live.

Normally the center would pass the ball between his legs, but in this case he just sort of handed it over his shoulder, making the defense think the play was dead, which caused them all to stand up while the quarterback just sort of walked by them.

It's a trick play, and I'm surprised it actually worked.
