I have a blu ray drive on my pc, Lite-On, running an HDMI from my Video cards to my HD Monitor.

Awesomenesssss.

I also have a PS3 but I have yet to upgrade the tv in my living room. I have a 42" but it's one of those rear-projection-old-school-can't-see-the-screen-unless-you-are-directly-in-front-of-it type of tv's.

I have been looking at TV's at best buy, thinking about a 60". One of those would look nice on my wall. Maybe one of these

That 4 color instead of three technology is kinda a big selling point for me. I went and saw one in person, and what they say is true, you have to see it to see it.

As far as movies I own:

Avatar

Sherlock Holmes

Star Trek

Alexander

Complete Star Wars Set (all 6 movies even though I already had them on DVD) yes I'm that much of a nerd.

Saving Private Ryan

Clash of the Titans

Iron Man 2

Inception

Shutter Island

Ninja Assassin

Most of those are awesome on Blu Ray, with the exception of Star Wars, you don't notice that much of a difference between the blu ray and the DVD versions. I also have quite a few movies I have downloaded that are Blu Ray.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with owning all of the Star Wars on blue ray... or DVDs... or all of the original VHS copies (before they were remastered)... Or a million of the action figures that havent left the box... or a giant death star model that hangs from the ceiling in your room... IT'S A PERFECTLY NORMAL NOT-NERDY THING TO DO OK!?

Actually, it doesn't make any difference at all. With the switch to a digital signal, all that has to happen is the signal getting there intact. Interference doesn't really play a part like it did with analog cables. As long as you aren't getting a pixelated picture (that isn't from your cable box/satellite receiver), you are getting everything. Don't drink the kool-aid on digital signal-carrying cables. Get the cheapest you can. And if you get Monster cables, I'll disavow knowing you.

Yall would laugh if you saw my setup.

I think, a 30" tv? Old school tube baby.

I've had it for probably close to 15 years or more.

No HDMI, no hi-def, none of that. I still have a vcr plugged into my reciever for crying out loud. Not a vcr/dvd combo, a plain old vcr!

The lady and I have been discussing tv's and almost pulled the trigger on a 40" flat screen, but she said if she is going to get a new tv, it better be huge. She wants 55-60" (that's what she said )

We're thinking Christmas we might make the leap to a flat screen - the problem will be getting rid of this huge entertainment center we currently have that takes up so much space (and holds all our vhs movies, dvds, video games, etc.) Also, I've noticed huge differences in quality of picture on flat screens. Some don't really have a deep true black color to things that should be black (which in tube tv's meant it was a much lesser quality television) - does the same logic apply? Some are pixely but I don't know if that's because it's at a store and not hooked up nicely, or what... makes me nervous to get one.

That's a really nice blu-ray player you got though...

And Dillon, I actually knew a kid who swore by Monster cables. But that was for car audio - and the old school av cable for tv's. I myself will NEVER buy them (although I did have them in my truck for it's amps/subs/mids/highs - but I got them free since the 'family business' was home & car audio). They get a lot of people to buy into it though and it's outrageous.

If you want DEEP true black and no motion blur get a Plasma they are a little thicker then LCD-LED but they are still slim enough to mount on your wall with a variety of mounts. plus a nice bluray player and hdmi cable and your set to go! the one thing plasma has that might mess with you is glare from the sun cause the front screen is made of glass so if its in sunny room you might wanted to get a LED-LCD but i think a plasma would be better for ya but thats just me

I'm for all types of movies. I have so far, Black Hawk Down, Band of Brothers, Mr and Mrs Smith, Pursuit of Happyness, Sound of Music.

I got a few cheap HDMI cables off of monoprice.com

One of those things are not like the other...

Myself I have a 52" Sony Bravia. Unfortunately, the HDMI ports have burnt out so I need to call Sony and have them fix it. I don't have a blu-ray player yet and have been weighing my options carefully. I was thinking of getting a PS3 because realistically they are only marginally more expensive than a blu-ray player and have many more features.
