Question

Hey ive been having really low fps to the point where the games not playable. I am playing on a wireless but my pings seems to be fine. Ive looked around and at support forums and they said for my comp i should update my BIOS n drives. Then i researched about the BIOS and there are a bunch of forums saying that it bricked alot of laptops, so here are my specs.

AREA-51 M15X

1 | AREA-51 M15X 15" WUXGA W/CAM SIL-RIP-PNT

1 | CPEN,INTEL T9300 CPU,2500/800,6M,FCPGA6 SCREENED

2 | ELPIDIA 2GB DDR2 PC5300 SO-DIMM Y9540

1 | M15X PRIMARY 6 CELL BATTERY-ACCESS

1 | M15X PRIMARY 120WATT AC ADAPTER-ACCESS

1 | M15X ODD SMARTBAY KIT-SILVER-PNT

1 | M15X NVIDIA 8700M-GT 512MB

1 | M15X THERMAL MODULE NB8P-GS & NB8E-SE

1 | SEAGATE 120GB 7200RPM FREE FALL SENSOR H

1 | 8X DVD+/-RW SAMSUNG LIGHTSCRIBE DRIVE Rev.1

1 | M15X ALIENFX KEYBOARD US

1 | INTEL PRO WIRELESS 4965 A/B/G DRAFT-N MINI-CARD

Also as a side note, ive upgraded my OS to Windows 7 and ive made sure iam on high performance. Being that my OS is window 7 the page on the alienware website called "my hive" which keeps track of my specs, it only have driver updates for vista OS's. Although i was looking through the forums mabey 2 months ago and found a driver update list for window 7 users. Laptop purchased at 07/29/2008. There is a new m15x that uses dell.com to update, i believe i must use the ones on the alienware site, due to purchasing before 2009.

I don't know how to fix your problem but the last time I contacted alienware about updating drivers they told me to never use the updates found on their website because they are normally very old. When I update things like my video card I normally go to the manufacturers website for the drivers.

Magoo, what kind of alienware u got and when did u buy it? after sept 2009?

Have you checked out this forum link? http://www.1stmarineraiders.com/index.php?...ic=6254&hl=

Dillon did a lot of work on the game cfg file which may help, also sometimes your processor may be an issue, you need at leat a duo core of better to play, the or better make the game play better.

Check it out.......... Good luck I was having 10-20 on the pub, rebuilt my computer processor and motherboard. Made a really big difference, now I'm averaging 150fps, maxed out at 225.

I do have dillons config, it does help for awhile but gos back, expecially when the pubs full. My laptops fan kicks in at random and the game runs a lot smoother for a bit. again ive check the power setting to make sure its on performance. Also the alienware website does have old drivers only for vista, ial try to find the window 7 ones somewhere and do a full reinstall/update on the drivers on this laptop.

It also says on the alieware site that iam not supposed to use Nvidia's sites drivers, but Nvidias site IS compatible for m15x laptops that are new n made after 2009, i got mine in 2008. So u can see my dillema.

I have an Area-51 tower.

I had 2x 1Gb GTX 280's in it but they died and they gave me 2x 1Gb GTX 285's to replace them.

That's my rig except I use Sennheiser PCX 450 headphones now.

I bought it in late 2008

Still having hardware problems, very low fps!!! the games gets choppier when more people come in, its really bad in the private, but the pubs not to bad when its not full for me. Otherwise with my alienware i believe iam not supposed to use other drivers from a different site, other than alienware.com Problem is they dont update there drivers. Currently i used the site below for window 7 drivers, but no change. Thinkng bout going back to vista.

If you are using Windows 7, just use Vista drivers. There is no difference. Just ensure you are using 32 or 64 bit.

I am almost willing to bet you have an issue with your chipset. Because its a laptop, you need particular drivers to address your PCI, PCI-express, memory controllers, SATA drives, etc.

Get the Vista drivers for your chipset and video card (if they aren't combined).

Uninstall ALL of the old stuff.

Run Crap Cleaner (ccleaner). There is a link to it in the old topic I started on it here: Ounce of prevention

Get rid of all the old gunk.

Reboot.

Install the new chipset driver.

Reboot.

Install the new graphics driver.

Reboot.
