Any AMA Supercross fans that are following the season. I would like to know what your take is on the Stewart Reed crash/takeout that happened at Atlanta last weekend. I honestly believe that Stewart was the final instigator in this scenario and don't like how people are blaming Reed for the crash. He was well committed to the turn and it was Stewart who drove into the crash. What do you think?

Also what type of bike do you have if you have one.

Stewie is such a bitch IMO.

I've never liked him.

He's fast, but he's not 'the fastest of all time' because he can't keep it on two wheels!

I feel bad for him these days though because he just can't win... if he wins? It's usually because others take themselves out... and his PR is a joke. Have you seen "Bubbas world?" what a joke! I feel bad because I think he could have tons of fans, could be really likable, but Big James is such a tool he'd never just let his kid be. Big James is like Tony Alessi, just a gigantic tool who's never done much for their kids careers other than be a hindrance.

I feel bad for Dungey most of all though - last year he was taking it to a new level and this year he can't put it together!

Reed? I used to like Reed because he was really taking it to JS & RC, however these days he seems to just be phoning it in. He's fast, but he's not willing to put it on the line like in years past. He's starting to get up to speed on that Honda, but I think the Yamaha suited him best.

That crash? I dunno - I don't know what to think of it as I haven't seen it yet. I haven't watched that race yet but have heard a lot of speculation as to who did what and why...

I ride (well, used to, haven't ridden/raced in a couple years :( ) an '03 KTM 250sx (two-stroke of course!) I've raced all over IL, all over Arkansas, some in Texas, a little in Iowa and live about 2 hours from Red Bud!!! I've never raced the national track though, just the amateur track. One of these days I'd like to take to the national track, although these days they say there are some C amateurs who'll go for LaRocco's leap :(

Wow. I agree with you on Stewarts behave. I think he is a really likable person and has a lot of integrity. Though I think he can be very cocky when it comes down to things. I actually raced him on 80's in the late 90's in PA. He lapped me on the third lap of 6 I believe (I'm no supertar when is comes to racing just a hobby) He was pretty cool in the pits back then and at Laretta's when I went before he and Pastrana went pro.

I agree with the winning part. Dungey when he finally figures out the Supercross set up for his bike and I think the new manager of Suzuki has something to do with his performance, Villipoto, and Canard create a neck deep talent pool that we haven't seen in the 450 class in a long time if ever. Once Pourcel gets a ride for the outdoor season plus Reed and JS. Its going to be a great year. There normally is only 2 or 3 riders who can win. Not 6 or 7. Makes for good racing.

I think Reeds a great rider and I am actually surprised no one picked him up this year. I know he had a horrible year on the Kawi but man. He looks great on the Honda though I am a Suzuki fan myself and love seeing guys on my brand. Running team is pretty awesome though.

I like the new announcers in Emig and Shehean. They are pretty good. I am actually surprised with Emig's ability to talk. I remember when he was racing and had a huge stuttering problem in his after race interviews. Though I don't think either one will ever replace Art Eckman and David Bailey as the voices of supercross/motocross...

I have never been to Red Bud. I have been to Steel City (I raced it long ago), Kenworthy's in Troy Ohio before it lost its Spot on the Outdoor season, and Buddscreek. I would love to ride all of the National Tracks throughout my life time. I am actually thinking about taking a road trip to Washougal in Washington this year. I still own an '01 RM 125 but I havent found the time to ride it in a few years. Money, gas prices, and ability to use a truck kind of hinder my riding ability...

Oh. Yeah a couple more points. I don't know how you watch the races but I have been watching them on Youtube for the past 2 years. This year the guys have gotten better and are posting them faster. I just put in 2011 AMA Supercross 450 rd# and it pops up. The live evens someone has been posting the entire broadcast in 2 1 hour videos. Its amazing. Normally something is posted by Monday or Tuesday the following week.

The Larocco's Leap comment... Gah 1 I have never done something that big and 2 its the bikes theses days. When Larocco did it back on a 125 two stroke it was astonishing. Now the normal jumps are about as big as that one though not up hill. Oh I forgot I have been at Highpoint and if you watched the race last year there was an off camber right hand double that most everyone was doing. Emig said the double was about 90 feet long out of a short corner and off camber... It was sick to watch on tv specially since when I was there it used to be a six pack and now it was only a single double... The bikes now are really powerful...

I know some people who know some people, apparently KTM was trying to get ahold of Pourcel to ride for them but after a few attempts at talking to him they pulled the plug - didn't want to deal with him if he was going to be an ass about it.

I too was pretty surprised Reed didn't get a big ride this year too... he's fast enough to deserve one.

I too miss Bailey & Eckman in the booth... and yea, Emig has come a long way! It's nice because he can provide some of that insight like David used to into what they're thinking/feeling at any given point during the race. Although Dobbles made that comment just because way back when McGrath was dominating everything I was a huge fan (how could you not be?!) - I remember bitching to him about Emig (remember the horrible season MC had on Suzuki?) and he would always say he was rooting for Emig even though he didn't follow the sport much at all (he only knew about it from my ramblings, or the odd chance he'd see some on tv)

Kenworthy's was awesome! Wish it was still around.

Never been a huge fan of Villopoto - he's a fast little guy, but something about him just makes me go 'meh'.

I have found myself pulling for Canard this year because he's like 'the underdog' who always seems to have to come up from behind the leader. Although Windham is one of my all-time favorite riders I hope this is his last season. That guy has so much natural talent... but has never been able to string it all together consistently. He's so fluid and smooth... if it wasn't for RC - I think KW would have a few more championships under his belt. Who else before Bubba could even compare to RC? Only Windham, even right out of retirement... impressive as hell.

I was a huge Ezra Lusk fan back in the day too - that guy was SO fast when he got it together... my sons name is Ezra if that tells you anything (I think it's an awesome name on top of liking Lusk).

I usually try to catch them on Speed or CBS when they're on. If not, I don't worry about it so much... although this year with the deep talent pool I've found myself really hunting for when the races will be on so I can watch with my boys.

The bikes these days are disgusting powerful. My old bike was an '01 KTM 520sx - bought around 2001 when everyone was still riding 2-strokes for the most part. I crashed my brains out on that thing a number of times - it was the bike I broke my back with... went for a huge step up and missed a shift - just figured I could twist the throttle a bit more and make it and ended up about a foot short. Over the bars and a short tumble later I couldn't move my legs for about 5-10 seconds... I didn't know it then but found out about 2 years ago that I have 2 herniated discs in my back and a broken vertebrae from that incident. I was racing for years after that too - another even moderately bad accident and the doc says there's a chance I won't be walking. Glad I didn't know that while I was racing after the fact! When I got the 250sx, I was WAY faster than I was on the 4-stroke so I guess I'm just a 2-stroke kind of guy.

Watching those guys hit the jumps they do these days makes everyone take for granted just how huge those jumps are. Until you've been on the track and stared down the track from the lip of a triple... you have no idea. They all look so easy on tv. Then when you see them turning things into insane quads and such... just boggles my mind. At what point do they say "I think I can go from here... alllllllllll the way to there in one leap."

There was a track in Texas (Hooks, tx) that had a section of two doubles. EVERYONE - hit them double-double - but I was told there was some of the local pro's who came out for the day races (the track raced mostly on saturday nights), and those guys would turn that double-double into a giant quad (they had a better run at it because the day track had an additional section added to it). I just can't gather my head around who would try that stuff.

I can't imagine how fast Stewie must've been on the same track with you too... that would've been so cool - you can always say "yea, I lined up against him". I've never lined up against anyone famous - ever! Just a bunch of weekend warrior squids like myself.

I have been looking forward to this weekend for quite some time. I go to the race in St. Louis every year and loved it when Travis Pastrana entered the race a few years back. He didn't make the feature but it was pretty spectacular that he performed as well as he did with all things considered. (not raced in a few years, and the endurance that is required). We are planning on hitting the wineries on our way through Missouri on our way up. I will do my best at taking some pictures. I love all types of dirt racing and love going to some of the outdoor races, as well.

In '06 I was in Winona,MN and watched Carmichael lap the ENTIRE field (that would include Stewart and Reed, ah ha ha). Carmichael was amazing, it poured during the race and made for a very technical and slick track and it was great watching Stewart bury his bike up to the sprocket in mud as he watched Carmichael pass him. The best part was the rooster tail that he through at Stewart as he turned the corner. (rather more of a gooey mud than dirt, priceless)

Anyhow... I'll think of you guys while I am at the race :P

I am quite jealous sir. I haven't been able to go to an indoor in many years. I think I went to Pontiac when Doug Henry was the only person on a 450F... Shows you how long ago that was. Talking like this actually makes me feel old. My friend and I wanted to hit up Indy but didn't have time to plan it out. Now most if not all of the races are out to far for a weekend trip from Ohio. We were going to go to St. Louis also but planning escaped us... Darn having a life and working. I will be going to 1 or hopefully 2 outdoors this summer depending if I can convince people to go with me. It would not be as fun if I didn't have people to go with. Well. Make sure you get some pics specially of the Supercross girls, Monster Energy girls, pretty much anything with Hot women and dirt bikes LOL. I want to make a few sprays out of them.

I didn't realize it was this weekend...

I just asked the gf if she'd like to go to St.Louis (kids are on their visitation with mom this weekend) - she said "I don't care...".

Maybe if we can get tickets we'll see you down there ;) I gotta find out if my race buddy from Arkansas is going...

I haven't seen last weeks race but heard it was pretty crazy.
