And thus is our first amendment. You can say whatever you want, whenever you want, despite how stupid, racist, intolerant, and ridiculous it is. Just like that westboro baptist church protest at the US marine's funeral, a bunch of scum bag brainwashed idiots gathered to let everyone know just how stupid they are, and it was completely in their rights to do so. (not saying i agree with these fucks, but if we want to say what we want to say, we have to let others do the same)

I know it was just a comedy movie by the creator of Bevis and Butthead, but in my opinion, "Idiocracy" is a scary accurate view of the future.

"it's not the right time to be sober, now the idiots have taken over, Mensa membership conceding, someone tell me how and why the hell are all the stupid people breeding"- NOFX; the idiots are taking over

Yes I agree with you, but we just can't let some of these things happen, because in the end they are actualy offending and causing moral damage on these people. I think they do have the right to say whatever they want, but we are only free if we don't offend or harm other people, there has to be a limit otherwise we would be shooting each other in the streets.

What these people were doing was not protesting, this was pure fascism, hatred, racism, whatever you wanna call it. Someone has to take action on these ignorant people, because we all know this is not right, and deep down, they know it aswell but they just don't care.

I never really spoke here, might end up betraying to the unit of my own political leanings (which I admit, range from right-wing to 'give me the nukes and the last MIRV falls on me, now stop pissing me off arseholes') but just can't handle this anymore. These people are totally outrageous, I'm ashamed to even consider the fact they may be from my own party, let alone part of the political movement I subscribed to.

This is stupid. This is a charity event to help the local community. If the average American can't take five minutes to understand that our enemy is always going to be extremism, but rather label ALL Muslims as baby-killing hatemongers, how different are we of them? What credibility do we gain when WE go and protest an actual Muslim group who has sprouted their own

? What credibility do we gain in the international community? Especially since, what many of our people don't realize until recently, that we are freer than many nations out there, and our views are shaped differently, coming from many viewpoints, under a government that, while seemingly oppressive to some, is definitely much more cleaner than any other government out there?

We aren't passing a law to ban religious clothing, nor are we stoning to death our enemies, apostates of the secular order. As a student of history and international relations, I cringe at the very thought of this being taken by our enemies, to be given to an easily manipulated populace, one that has no access to alternate sources of information, and has, since childhood, indoctrinated to follow the 'One True Sect' of Islam (and I take this term sarcastically), where it has been conveniently inserted that in order to achieve what the Prophet has asked for them, is to kill their enemies. And then they show them this. They show them our 'crimes' of modernization, of western culture and knowledge, our tolerance, our support of the state of Israel, and anything to get their anger up.

This ain't helping guys. I write this not as a right-wing nutjob (/sarc) but as an American. Not hyphenated or anything, but someone who has common sense, tolerance as taught by Christ, and as a concerned right-winger who knows that in the long run, this bullshit is gonna result in more caskets arriving at Dover.

Also, this is totally related:

of course it's fascist, racist, and whatever i wanna call it. And sure, maybe they'll end up fighting it out eventually. But the constitution does not say "Say whatever you want (unless it hurts someones feelings)" If the KKK can have organized rally's with police escorts across the country, these idiots need to be able to do the same.

Ah, so we should be able to yell, "FIRE!" in a public place with no repercussions. Or, "He's got a gun!" Resulting in a random bystander being tackled by some security or vigilantes or what have you. In that, there is a limit to what you can and cannot say. You would be arrested for doing either of these things.

So, doesn't Freedom of Speech already have limits for common sense? Why is this different?

yelling "BOMB!" on an airplane, or "Fire!" in a public place (however amusing it may be) is not a statement of beliefs or opinion, nor does it qualify for freedom of assembly. But these people are not rallying together with the objective of inducing physical harm, or mass panic. They're just being dumb rednecks stating their ignorant and uninformed ideas, and are completely within their rights to do so.

That's interesting. By your logic, the only language that can be protected is the statement of opinion? Therefore, Congress would have the right to pass a law criminalizing a word. For lack of thought, Jabberwocky. We all know of what scourge the Jabberwocky is upon the earth, so (hypothetically) Congress has decided to outlaw the word. Therefore the blight won't exist. Wouldn't the 1st Amendment protect the outlawing of a word with no inherent political or sociological tendencies?

Furthermore, it can be argued that these "rednecks" were looking to induce a panic. Calling the Muslims terrorists and yelling at them to go home will cause emotional duress for no apparent reason. Because it is their view they should go home? It's my view there's a fire in the building. I'm wrong, but there's a fire.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you about freedom of speech. But, I find there's a line. The Supreme Court should not have voted 8 to freakin' 1 to allow the Westboro Baptist Church to protest soldiers' funerals. They should have voted 0 to 9. There should be a common sense dictation. Instead Justice Alito is the only one who thinks the WBC shouldn't be allowed to do that.

Freedom hurts, free speech hurts. Freedom for some is happiness for other pain, although they obey the same laws.

Your not going to eradicate haters. People are different, and im not surprise that this occurs in America. IMO America are the reason for most of todays hatred.
